Bsafe - Your Support is Needed!
The Baillieu Government is spending $1 million to house ex-racehorses but can't find $250,000 to stop Victoria's national award-winning family violence protection program, Bsafe, from being shelved. This is despite the Premier's promise to get tough on crime.
Intimate partner violence is the leading cause of injury, disability and death in Victorian women aged 15 to 44, and nationally, claims the life of almost one woman every week. In eight weeks' time - when Bsafe funding runs out - 13 rural women and 25 children (17 of them less than 8 years old) will face terror most of us can barely imagine.
