Legal Services Board Funding
WHGNE is pleased to announce that the Legal Services Board have funded our partnership application with Women's Health In the North and Berry Street. We now have $307,223 for a three-year project that aims to prevent violence against women by researching and piloting a system that allows women access to specialist family violence legal advice through Skype, and provides education to family violence workers.
Through this project, we hope to minimise problems known to exacerbate men's violence and improve women's experience of the court system and court outcomes. Six organisations that provide family violence services will be involved – three from rural areas in the Goulburn Valley and north-east Victoria, and three from Northern Metropolitan Region. An integral part of this project is that we will have the funds to contract Women's Legal Services Victoria to provide lawyers and engage their Legal Education Team. An ethnographic research component and external evaluation will measure the successes and learnings of the project. It promises to be a very exciting partnership project!
