The No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) provides women on low incomes access to safe, fair and affordable loans. Depending on your capacity to repay loans are for up to $1500. This limit is extended to $2000 for women who have experienced family violence in the past twelve months. There is no minimum.
However, NILS is more than just a loan. It is a vital tool for early intervention and financial capacity building for women experiencing social and economic disadvantage. Women have the opportunity to purchase essential goods or services that they would otherwise be unable to afford. They also have the opportunity to look closely at their bank statements and debts with the assistance of the NILS project worker and build their financial literacy skills.
