Women Gathering is a project offering women and gender diverse people in the Goulburn North East region the opportunity to connect, build skills and undertake free group facilitation training. The first workshop session was held on Wednesday 7 August in Wangaratta. Expressions of interest are now open for upcoming sessions.

The Women Gathering model was developed by Women’s Health Goulburn North East in 2006-08 in response to the ongoing drought in the Hume region. The model was adapted in response to the 2009 bushfires, and again as Women Gathering Online to adjust for the COVID 19 pandemic.

Now in its fourth iteration, the Women Gathering project will foster community participation, bringing free group facilitation training to women and gender diverse people across the Goulburn North East region. Participants will be able to build skills, make connections and learn to share their area of special interest with like-minded women from their local area.

Who can do this training?

WHGNE is looking for women and gender diverse people from the Goulburn Valley and northeast Victoria over the age of 18 with a desire to run a group and learn new skills – that’s it!

You might already run a group or have a special interest that you would like to form a group around. Maybe you’re into gardening, crochet or woodwork? Perhaps you’d like to network with other women about ethical business practices and leadership? Or maybe you feel there is a lack of social opportunities and support for women in your area.

Your group could be around anything! You will attend a half-day session which will build your group facilitation skills, make connections and take home a comprehensive toolkit to run your group going forward.

We are now accepting expressions of interest in the second session of the Women Gathering Group Facilitation Training. The time, date and location of this session will be advised.
