WHGNE is pleased to mark 16 Days of Activism, which started on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and runs until International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2022. In solidarity with women and gender diverse people around the globe, we aim to turn awareness into action when it comes to preventing gender-based violence.

This year, we are happy to support our community and gender equity partners through the launch of WHGNE eLearning. Throughout the 16 Days of Activism and beyond, community can access resources via this digital hub to build knowledge and encourage meaningful action to progress gender equality and create the conditions necessary to prevent gender-based violence in our homes, our workplaces, our institutions and communities.

For a sneak peak at the type of content you’ll find on the WHGNE eLearning platform, you can explore talking points for 16 Days of Activism here and a Power Point presentation illuminating some of the crucial aspects of 16 Days of Activism campaigning here.

On 30 November, WHGNE in collaboration with Australia reMADE, hosted the final online conversation in our Regions reIMAGINED panel series, Contributing to our Communities. The event raised pertinent points to consider during 16 Days of Activism, with reflections from our panellists around forging a path for women to raise their voices and create a more gender equal world; ensuring space for young people to contribute; and embedding truth telling in justice and healing. This 16 Days of Activism and beyond, let’s all ask ourselves how we can contribute to communities free from violence. You can find the recording of this powerful session here: Regions reIMAGINED: Contributing to our Communities.

On this page, we’ll also share tips and ideas for gender equity-inspiring 16 Days events you might like to host in your community or organisation, and resources for communicating about violence prevention in your sphere of influence. Stay tuned to our website and our social media channels to spread the gender equality in action message among your own networks.
