Australia’s Federal Election was held on Saturday, 3 May 2025. When we collectively went to the polls, we all chose candidates that we hoped would represent our interests well through the policies they support. Find out where your candidates stand and engage with the democratic process as we head into this term of Government.

Scroll down, and you’ll also find links to a variety of bi-partisan information resources.

We invited candidates from Victoria standing for the Senate, and Candidates from the electorates of Indi, Nicholls and McEwen to fill out our Know where your Candidates Stand Federal Election Questionnaire.

Flip through our candidate scorecard. to get an idea of where your candidates stand on issues of regional and national importance. We’ve added quotes from candidates that expand on their policy positions in the areas of Health Equity, Gender Equality and the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, Closing the Gap to improve outcomes in First Nations communities, and Climate, Housing and the Wellbeing of Future Generations.

Now that the votes are in, let’s keep our politicians accountable and engage with the policies they support and their actions in Parliament.

Australia is a representative democracy – that means that we elect candidates to advocate for the policies we support and aspirations we hold for our country.

Here, we’ve provided some links to resources explaining the process of elections, government and how to find information about political parties, candidates and the policies they support.

The AEC Tally Room

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is the body responsible for running the election and calculating the results. You can explore election results in the House of Representatives by electorate and track the progress of Senate results in real time.

AECTV

AECTV is the Australian Electoral Commission’s YouTube channel. There you’ll find short videos explaining so many different elements of elections, voting and how our political system works.

They vote for you

They vote for you is a website that allows you to enter your postcode and see your elected representative’s voting record on Parliamentary matters. You can also find out about sitting MPs and policy issues.

The Australia Institute

The Australia Institute conducts research and analysis to inform public policy – this election, they are running a live election tracker with political analysis based on their research, as well as fact checking information. While research-informed opinions are shared through this analysis, the Australia Institute champions ideas, not political parties.

Build a Ballot

The Build a Ballot website contains a plethora of easy explainers about the Australian political system, how elections actually work and tools to find information about electorates and the policy positions of major Parties.

Our Federal Election advocacy is all about engaging with the democratic process and encouraging everyone in our community – no matter their political perspective – to do the same, empowered with the knowledge of where their candidates stand on important policy issues.

As a women’s health organisation, we also advocate for the things we value during the election cycle – we’ll be dropping links here that provide information on advocacy campaigns supported by WHGNE below:
