Developed in 2011 and 2012, Tools for Change was a financial capacity building mentoring project designed to support women who have low financial confidence and who have recently left, or are planning to leave, situations of family violence.

This project developed resources to train volunteer financial mentors, who would support a woman in a 12-month financial mentoring relationship. The women involved in the project would also be supported by regular group sessions and would contribute to the development of supportive financial tools ‘for women, by women’.

Additionally, the project created resources to engage two groups of workers in the financial support and domestic violence sectors from Wangaratta and Shepparton to assist the effective support of women exiting violence with serious financial barriers.
