Women’s Health Goulburn North East made a submission to Wodonga Council’s public consultation process over a proposed new bottle shop for a prominent site in Wodonga, urging council to reject the liquor license and planning permit application based on:

• an existing culture of harmful alcohol and drug use in the city;
• Wodonga City Council’s commitment to Reducing harmful alcohol and drug use’ as one of it five top health and wellbeing priorities;
• evidence that demonstrates that, while not being drivers of gender-based violence, “alcohol and drug use are significant reinforcing factors that can worsen the experience of gender-based violence for individuals and families within our community”.
